The big event of the week was Motor City Furry Con at the Sheraton Detroit Novi Hotel. Animal Magic was selected as this year's charity. He brought many of his animals with him to the convention and they were fun to see. Besides Popcorn (his binturong, which made a strong impression on me when Mark was at MCFC two years ago), my favorite creature was Sherman, a 6-banded armadillo.
Animal Magic doesn't need my pet/cat beds, so I just brought two with me to put into the auction. They raised $55 for the charity. Later I was surprised to learn that since Alkali has been keeping records my cat beds have raised a total of $1000 for MCFC's charitable work. Wow and Go Me!
While at the convention most of my duty hours were spent checking for badges on the second floor. I love that spot as I get to see almost everyone at the convention and I have plenty of time to knit and yarn geek with anyone interested. This year I worked on two distinct projects, tiny sweaters and a crescent shawl. The shawl is what I'm working on in today's Project 52 page. The tiny sweaters are shown below (If the image refuses to load, you should be able to see it in a new tab by clicking here.)
