Scary times here in Michigan

The business next door to where we work has been closed for about six months. A few weeks ago I heard a rumor that the business on our other side is shutting down. And this morning I heard (from our boss, who heard it from one of the principals involved) that the business across the street from us is considering closing. They're a computer reseller that focuses on equipping school systems and so far this year they've signed one contract. All of their employees have already taken pay cuts. If sales haven't picked up come July, they too will go out of business.

Date: 2009-05-06 05:14 pm (UTC)For the last couple years or so they had during the winter 2 delivery drivers (& 4 - 5 people laid off). This year was 1 also doing my job in one location. The second this year had to take a lay-off just to get paid. They were a month & a half behind on payroll because they didn't have enough money to pay anyone other than themselves.
I wouldn't be surprised if they go out of business either by the end of this year or next.
They've been trying to sell the building in Livonia for at least 5 years or so with no luck.
