Motor City Furrycon was fun, even though we had to miss part of it. Which I am not entirely sad about as some asshole in California phoned in a bomb threat and everyone had to leave the hotel for about three hours. I am starting to think we should have a backup plan for when this happens, but maybe that's more for the ConCom, not security. I'm thinking of outdoor events, games and such, to keep the furs occupied and having fun. The hotel staff was wonderful as they brought out coffee.
So, we slept at home Saturday night and then left for Pendleton, Indiana on Sunday. We stayed at Jebra's parents' condo and got up in plenty of time for the eclipse. The view from their front yard was very nice. I have since seen photos of twilight at full coverage. We had full coverage too, but were surrounded by buildings and didn't get that.
The folks are doing as well as can be expected. My mother-in-law is her normal calm and good humored self. Her husband is struggling harder for words and everyone is having a hard time understanding what he tries to say, even Les who spends days with him and has lots of practice.
The drive home wasn't nearly as bad as we thought it would be. Jebra wisely avoided going through Toledo and I have since heard that really was terrible. Our traffic flowed along at a reasonable speed and I couldn't ask for more.
Last night was the April meeting of the Black Sheep Knitting Guild. I think most of us spent more time thinking and talking about the eclipse than we did yarn. The meeting broke up a bit early, but nevertheless I came home with quite a bit of yarn from the free table. Not that I've had time to do anything with it as so far today's I've been checking in with work (My new job! Yay!) Trying to get everything I need to know straight in mind. There a lot of interlocking pieces and learning is proving to be a struggle.
