This show is so bloody frustrating. It started off strong; I think the stories are getting stronger; and it might actually last more than a season. I rather hope it does even though there are two things about it that are driving me nuts. The first is that there's no one to slash John Amsterdam with (which could, of course, explain why he's immortal, but I digress). The second is that he wants to die. I don't want my characters to die. Sometimes I'm in the mood to make them suffer, but kill them? No way.

Date: 2008-04-01 02:28 am (UTC)The show bugs me because he's somehow lived 200+ year, has all of this life experience, and he's still *stupid* about the simplest things. Yeah, we're all stupid about some things when we're 40, but when we're 240? Give me a break.
I predict a serious continuity problem - a la "Heroes" - before very long. They're going to lose track of who he's bumped into over the years. History majors are *not* writing this show, and it's debatable whether or not they're being consulted.
Nonetheless, it's entertaining.

Date: 2008-04-01 04:00 pm (UTC)I suppose it helps that one of the grandmothers in my family (my mom's first husband's mother) is 99 years of age and at her last birthday party revealed that she's started feeling old. I can't quite imagine it -- I'm 48 and I feel old. She has 51 years on me and appears to be in great health and spirits. For sure she has a happy personality and it isn't as if she hasn't lost friends, her husband, and even some of her children during her lifetime.
I'm enjoying it

I'm also enjoying Eli Stone.
