I hadn't had an ocular migraine for a very long time, possibly years. I had one last night though, after we got home from seeing Gore Vidal's The Best Man at the Baldwin. The play is about the process of selecting the best presidential candidate and going by the audience and lack thereof, it seems everyone is sick of presidential politics. The play was good and it provided food for thought, but half of the already small audience left at the intermission. Before going, I was worried I'd have a bad reaction to the story but I was doing fine at intermission and my only comment upon leaving was "Where's Merwin when we need him?" I was taking my nightly shower and thinking about the play when the migraine hit but I looked up ocular migraines this morning and the medical sites I referenced do not mention stress as a trigger. So perhaps it was just a coincidence. At any rate, it lasted about 20 minutes and, as usual for me, there was no associated pain.

I had a migraine either last Thursday or the Thursday before. I knew I should have written down the time and date in my PDA as soon as I got to work, but I didn't and now I can't recall when I had it. This was the first full blown migraine I can recall having in the past ten years, so I wonder what triggered it. I'm lucky in that all of my migraines have been strictly optical. (No pain. Just visual phenomenon.)

Yesterday [insanejournal.com profile] jebra and I spent the entire afternoon working in the yard. He trimmed the shrubs in front of the house and pruned our beech. I raked leaves and chipped yard waste. Fifteen bags worth.

After working the yard and getting cleaned up, I came inside and relaxed on the couch. I did some knitting and watched an episode of Columbo with [insanejournal.com profile] jebra and [insanejournal.com profile] mbumby. While she was here, I asked her to model the hat I'd made the other week. It's child-sized and wouldn't fit on my head. She found it a tight fit, but managed to get it on her head. I also finished the market bag I made for myself. Pictures under the cut.

Today we celebrated an early Thanksgiving with friends. In a shocking turn of events, I was put to work in the kitchen. I peeled apples, then later the sweet potatoes. When I wasn't working with the peeler, I was either knitting or crocheting. I'm working on two more scarves. I'd hoped to finish the crochet one today, but I ran out of yarn.
