Are any of you experienced eBay sellers?
Feb. 27th, 2012 11:05 amI'm having trouble with a buyer on eBay and I'm looking for advice.
I sold a Bose Wave Radio for parts. The auction states that some parts are missing, that unit does not work, and that it is being sold as is with no returns.
When the buyer received it, he sent me email saying "FedEx has damaged this Bose radio it took a major g force dive."
I believed him and filed a claim with FedEx.
After inspecting the shipment, FedEx denied the claim and, as is their policy, returned the item to the seller. I have no way of knowing if the buyer removed any of the internal parts prior to inspection, however I do know that the power cord is now missing. My coworkers tell me that the power cord is proprietary to Bose and is not something that can be replaced by means of a quick trip to Radio Shack.
At this point I don't know what to do and I'm not good at waiting to see what happens next. The buyer has not contacted me since requesting I start the claim, nor have I heard anything through eBay or Paypal. My major fear is having my 100% positive rating with eBay dinged.
The buyer has a Positive Feedback score of 99.8% and a total feedback score of 869, however I suspect that the looked inside the radio and concluded it didn't have the parts he wanted and wanted a way out of having to pay for it. Omitting the power cord may or may not have been intentional but it certainly hinders my ability to resell the item. The box it was shipped in was returned to me and shows no sign of having been dropped or hit.
If I do nothing, I may never heard from the buyer again. On the other hand, if I don't contact him, I also don't get my power cord back.
Have any of you been in a similar situation? What do you think I should do?
