The week flew by but left few strong impressions. I've spent an enormous amount of time knitting and I'm to the long slog part of the project. It won't get interesting again until it's time to join the left half of the scarf to the right half. After grafting them together all that's left is giving it a bath, adding fringe, and then steaming the entire thing. I've not tried to block acrylic before, so the steam portion is brand new to me and I'm looking forward to it.

In addition to knitting (and the usual days spent at work and hours on my exercise bike), I've been to the doctor, who decided I am doing so well that I can drop down to seeing him every six months rather than three. I was surprised as my numbers didn't look that good to me when I got the report back from the lab. My blood sugar continues to vex me as it seems to do what it wants rather than what I expect based upon caloric intake and exercise.

SEMGS was at Fred & Laura's again, with the theme of Christmas Cookie Lab. [livejournal.com profile] jebra and I did not bake cookies because the rule is that left-overs go home with the person who brought/made them and the last thing we need is cookies in our house. I have often wondered how many of my excess pounds are due to my love of [livejournal.com profile] jebra's date cookies as I can recall several Decembers wherein my dinner would be honey tea and a plate of his cookies. At SEMGS itself I think I did pretty good as I had only four cookies, two lemon, one triple-gingerbread man and one spare gingerbread leg. The best part was seeing everyone while simultaneously making progress on the scarf.

On Sunday we were up early to head to U of M for the TubaChristmas rehearsal. I knit while [livejournal.com profile] jebra rehearsed, had lunch with him and [livejournal.com profile] mbumby, and then sat with my sister-in-law Lora and her husband Tim during the concert. I didn't know they'd be there, so that was a welcome surprise.

I'm glad your doctor thinks you're doing well enough to only see every six months. Maybe it's because he/she knows you monitor yourself carefully and are concerned. I think sometimes awareness is what they are looking for in a patient!

Kerrytown! It always makes me think of Zingerman's. Mmmm.... I haven't eaten there in forever.
