Fall is underway and I find I am not looking forward to winter. I am, however, enjoying the heck out the cooler temperatures and seeing the occasional falling leaf. Not that the trees have changed colors yet. Some look a little yellow but for the most part they are still green.
On Friday we drove down to the Redford to see a short tribute film for Gene Wilder and Blazing Saddles. The tribute was shorter and far less informative than I expected as it was mostly clips from a handful of his movies. Most of which I didn't recognize. Blazing Saddles, however, is a movie I have seen. As it turned out, I'd forgotten most of the movie and didn't see the one scene I was sure was in there (someone reminding the sheriff that he's been beat up for having a white horse, who knows what would happen if they found out he had a white girlfriend).
Ingress has a challenge this month, what they are calling the

Ingress has a challenge this month, what they are calling the <A HREF"https://plus.google.com/+Ingress/posts/2ocJHk7LXBp">Via Lux Adventures</A>. The idea is to visit 300 new unique portals during the month of September. Doing this will earn the Via Lux Adventurer medal." Both <lj user="jebra" site="livejournal.com"> and I hit our 300th new-to-us portals last Saturday. Our intent was to visit two old cemeteries in Detroit as they are hotspots of portals and they are often interesting in their own right. We were foiled in this, however, as both of the cemeteries close ridiculously early on Saturday (and aren't open at all on Sunday). Their weekday hours are no friendlier as they close in the afternoon, before we have even left work. We drove around Detroit for a bit, had trouble finding parking, then decided to head to Belle Isle as we were pretty sure we hadn't hit all the portals on the island during the Detroit Mission Day earlier this year. The island was surprisingly people-free and we had a very nice time walking around. Of particular interest to us were the band shell and the carillon. If at one time I'd known that the carillon is surrounded by a moat I'd forgotten that fact.
After leaving Belle Isle we headed to Jean & Marshall's house as they were hosting Game Day. Not that <lj user="jebra" site="livejournal.com"> or I played any games, we just wanted to see everyone.
The plan for Sunday was to get up early and find more new Ingress portals but something went wrong and we didn't get out of the house before it was time to leave for Chad's birthday party. The party was fun, seeing friends was great, and the food was awesome. There was some Moroccan dish that was amazing. It was in a round pastry shell and stuffed with chicken and almonds and I don't know what else, flavored with cinnamon and sugar and probably other spices too. Whatever it was, I hope I have it again sometime as I really REALLY like it.
Monday was the start of the FCB's 51st Season and a return to Monday night band practice for <lj user="jebra" site="livejournal.com">. I stayed home, did some laundry and finished stitching another cat bed for the rescue. Tonight we're going for a visitation as a friend's father died over the weekend.
