If you're wondering, I took the photo when jebra and I were in Clare. I saw the sewing machines in their window display and immediately thought of you. I hope you enjoy seeing them (not to mention the name of the business) and that you have an awesome birthday and a happy & creative natal year.

Thank you for the birthday wish, and now I really wish I'd stopped in Clare on my way home from Interlochen. :)

(I was far too tired to enjoy it, so I just went straight home -- didn't even stop at Doozy's for ice cream.)

I had to google Doozy's as that isn't a place I know. I found Doozie's but that's in Mt. Pleasant (and wasn't there when I attended CMU). If you were thinking of stopping, it must be good. When we're in Mt. P, Taco Boy is our stop of choice.

Yeah, I mis-spelled it -- and it is in MP. K and I used to stop there when I came up for early afternoon football games, and she'd stop there a couple of times a month. It is good ice cream.

I'll try to remember to look for it the next time we go through town. No clue when that will be, not even sure I'll pass through again before the in-laws head to Florida for the winter.

Hope you don't mind me butting in, but your photo of antique sewing machines reminded me of something really cool I saw in downtown Chicago a few years ago--a clothing store on the Michigan Mile whose 3-story window display consisted entirely of antique sewing machines:



And then there were even more inside the front entrance after you walked in:



It was incredibly impressive! (Although the clothing itself inside was a little too weird for me. And, obviously, the name of the business wasn't nearly as cool.)

Wow, that really *is* amazing. I wonder if the machines were out of the clothing line's own factories. I wish I had inherited my adoptive father's mother's machine. It was an old Singer, so old that it was operated by treadle not electricity.

ETA: Back to say nope, those machines couldn't be from their own factories, the company wasn't founded until 1994. I see what you mean about edgy clothes too. I rather like them but I'm too old and way too fat to be able to wear clothes like that. Great looking leather goods though; if I won the lottery I think that's a place I want to go shopping.
