Actually, I use a graphics editor called GIMP, find a picture I like and then see if I can select an area that looks good and is a multiple of 40x23 pixels. When I'm satified with the selection, I scale the image down to 40x23. Scaling the image is easy. Cutting out each one with an exacto knife is the hard part.
