Might be mistaken for cousins?

I was browsing through my cache the other day and nearly mistook David Bromstad for Nick Lea. I wondered how similar in appearance they really are and decided to compare them side by side.



Next, I wondered if I'd be able to morph one into the other using GIMP. I'm not completely satisfied with the result — Nick Lea is considerably more pale — but considering my limited graphics abilities, it'll do.



(I kept the animation slow so that I could watch the faces gradually change. Going by the middle frames, they make a very handsome man when they are merged together.)

Well, if nothing else, you've given me a reason to tolerate David Bromstad. Every time I hear 'Kathryn Janeway's' voiceover on his commercial and listen to him say "It's time for a colorsplash!" I just cringe (and I'm not at all sure why, lol).

Actually, I can't stand that commercial either. And I'm concerned that Color Splash won't show off Bromstad's talents to their true extent. Although he is very good with color, I'm unconvinced focusing solely upon it will make the show compelling nor that he will be able to shine the way he did on last year's Design Star competition.

The resemblance or the animation?

Both, actually. LOL! I'm on dial-up so I guess it just takes a while to download, but I never was able to see it. Just looking at the still pic though, I don't see the resemblance at all.

It's mostly in the smile, hair, and ears. Scrolling through thumbnails the way I was, it's not all that surprising I'd confuse the two. I'll agree they do not bear a strong resemblance to one another when carefully examined. Which, of course, I'm willing to do as they're both very pretty.

The animation file may not have fully downloaded. The darn thing is far larger than
I wanted, but after three hours of fiddling with GIMP trying to make it animate the image when every layer except for the base was Nick's face with a different opacity setting, I gave up. In the image I ended up using, each layer is the full picture with Nick's face merged down onto the picture of David.
