Various and sundry

Our tulips are starting to come up. I'm ready for Spring -- even though I heard on the news this morning that we're due for a "pollen burst" in a few weeks and that allergy sufferers will be hit particularly hard this year.
This afternoon I went to the dentist for a routine cleaning and check up. No new cavities or other problems - yay. And while I was waiting for the technician to take x-rays, I got out my cross stitch and did a bit of stitching. It's been more than a year since I last did any, so today's session was particularly enjoyable.
Tonight I watched the pilot episode of Raines. I feared it would be a mash up of Monk and Psyche, but happily it isn't. I liked the talking to victims thing he does, particularly because it's not excessively supernatural -- it's never clear whether he's really seeing them or if they're just figments of his imagination. And I like the noir touch -- I hope that continues as I'm a sucker for hard boiled writing.
It was also fun seeing Ryan Hurst again. His character on Wanted annoyed me, but I liked him in tonight's role.
