My first attempt at a Möbius went awry -- when I bound off the edge I discovered I had introduced two twists, not one. It's still wearable and I suppose that's the important thing. I cast on a second one last night, this time using Cat Bordhi's Möbius cast on. We shall see if this scarf turns out correctly -- the directions said to MCO 115 stitches and I thought I did. But when I knit the first row, I lost count after 120 stitches -- before seeing the stitch marker.

Last Friday was the Farmington Community Band's Valentines Dinner Dance. It went well, I got a lot of knitting done, and I even managed to take a few photos. I have not, however, managed to look at them yet. Perhaps tonight or tomorrow, but not tomorrow night. Tomorrow night we're going to see The Apartment at the Redford. I'm looking forward to it.

Last Saturday I skipped Nia (what with not getting home until after 1 a.m. and not actually falling into bed until after 4:00). If we did more than sleep, I can't recall what it was. No, I take that back. That was the day we had a can of diet soda explode in the kitchen. I needed to mop up the mess fast, and the quickest thing I could grab were the bath towels. So after mopping up the spill, and really mopping the floor, I had laundry to do.

Sunday was more laundry, followed by a trip to Costco to visit the phone kiosk. T-Mobile had a Valentine's Day promotion going on and I'm now the very happy owner of Samsung Galaxy S II.

What's a Mobius (the wearable version, I mean)? :-)

Boo to soda cans exploding (at least it was diet--no sticky sugar to mop up for days and days and days)! YAY to new phone!! (I still have my little slide-out Samsung with the Qwerty keyboard I got for my trip to VA in Nov, but I haven't had the $$ to add new days to the plan. I have over 600 mins, but no time--it's a throwaway phone. If I go back to VA to visit later this year, I'll want it for the trip, but otherwise, it doesn't really make sense to spend 30 bucks every 60 days for cell phone service I use once or twice a mo at most.)

It's a single-sided loop -- I posted a picture of the scarf and the definition two posts above this one, in other words, here.

I've heard of disposable phones, but they puzzle me. Do you have to buy the phone itself plus minutes AND service? Can you add time to the phone when you need/want to use it again?

This is my fourth cellphone. The first one I had I rarely used -- like many LJers, I much prefer type-talking to talking on a phone -- and other than having a built-in clock, that's all it was, a phone. My second phone was a Palm Centro; it worked well and it ran a decent OS, one that would also let me use it as my PDA. But after a year or so, I very much wanted a bigger screen. That lead to getting the Palm Pre. I have friends who love theirs and are still using them, but I found mine frustrating. It wouldn't run all of the software I wanted, not even after buying an emulator for the previous version of the software. I stuck with it for two years, even after my boss got his entire family Android phones and I saw what they could do. I finally decided that would be this year's birthday present and started shopping. And accidentally walked in on the Valentine's Day sale.

Anyway, the Samsung Galaxy S II is amazing. I've only had it since Sunday and I think I've already spent more time on it than I did on the Pre during the previous two years. It can run my password manager again (the Centro could; the Pre couldn't), it has a great free solitaire game (useful for killing time when I'm stuck somewhere without my knitting), it takes better pictures than my first two digital cameras, and it fits in my pocket. Oh, and it's also a reader -- I've already installed a ton of PDFs and eBooks.
