I just spent two and a half hours sorting through photos I took last July, trying to pick out the best of the lot. Jebra had asked me to take lots of pictures of the FCB Big Band and I complied, to the tune of 365 photographs. This isn't an easy task; it pits my hoarding tendencies against the librarian archivist in me. Plus with my memory the way it is, I can't hold all the images in my mind long enough to recall if a particular take is the best or if one that will appear dozens of photos later is the better take.

At this point there are 35 images in the keep pile, but I'm about to take off to help a friend sort through stuff at her late mother's house. I hope this is easier. Then again, having known her mom and her mom's taste in stuff, maybe not.

Yes, it is always a struggle when we morph into hoarder/archivist (archivists save way too much stuff, IMO). I'm determined to ditch a lot of my clutter this year, even if it means throwing out just one box of stuff each week. Freecycle, eBay, Goodwill, whatever, they're going to get something new from me from now til next January.

Very dangerous helping Jean with her mom's stuff... do not allow ANY of it to even ride in your back seat, babe. Very dangerous.

We got 25 kitchen trash bag's worth of stuff onto the front porch for pickup by the VVA. That was good. On the more-or-less okay side, a huge box of diabetes-related stuff came home with me for eventual transfer to the Dearborn Animal Shelter. Eventual because I don't get out to Dearborn all that often and our contact for the shelter doesn't make it out my way all that often either. On the mixed bag side of things, I also came home with a dozen or so bars of hand soap, two large bags of yarn and crochet thread, a box full of granny squares, and one of the most interesting crochet hooks I've ever held. Wood, about ten inches long, and just old and intriguing. I wonder who made it.
