On Labor Day I harvested the cat mint growing in my yard. Earlier this week I made a variety of wool fish-like objects. I crocheted a shark, knit two fish, and cut up an old sweater that I had previously felted and made a large school of felt fish. Last night I put all of them through the washer and dryer. After work tonight I stripped the cat mint leaves and flowers from the stems, stuffed it into the felt fish, and sewed them shut.
This task was made more difficult by Hector and Hamish, who would not leave me alone. Not that I can blame them, the aromatics from the cat mint were undoubtedly very strong. I gave them the shark as soon as I was done with it and they played with it for a surprisingly long time. They'd probably still be playing with it, but they managed to fling it underneath my office door and they can't reach it.

Is cat mint what some call catnip? I'm guessing it is. =>}

We stopped giving that to our first cat (MANY years ago) because she was a bit of a nasty cat already and when she was high on catnip, she was incredibly vicious! NOT a happy drunk. LOL.
Guinness and Canyon (see icon) just get happy and frisky with it. =>}

Date: 2008-11-24 03:16 pm (UTC)As for never cleaning, do you have critters or is the family just you and the hubby? We're just the four of us (two humans plus two cats) and our house is a wreck. If it's a flat surface, it's covered with who-knows-what (but probably mail, craft supplies, books, computer gear, or something related to music). I think my spouse is in two of the worst clutter-generating professions -- computers and music. Not that I'm in any position to speak, not with my own addictions to slash, crafts, and computers. The worst part is the random clumps of shedded cat fur. Some of them are the size of mice and I just walk right on by.

Date: 2008-11-25 10:08 pm (UTC)With my fuzzy eyes, it took me a second (or 8) to process the lower right shot. First pattern match were two pale mutant people (the near one wearing a hat) sleeping next to each other, laying under your woobie (with woobie colored pillows?) and little purple fish marching up their chests.
*snort* And the spell checker wants me to replace woobie (I didn't know how to spell that) with many other items, including "boob" and "whore".
