Jebra went up north to see his folks this past weekend. Being me, I stayed home and spent my time online. On Saturday I spent the entire afternoon with Starsky & Hutch fans and only turned on the tv when it it was time to exercise. No clue what I watched, probably some true crime thing. I know that last night I continued my rewatch of Midsomer Murders with "Murder on St Malley's Day" which is not one of my favs. Groups of bullying privileged youths make me fearful as do rich folks who act like they can do no wrong and don't care about the less fortunate.
I'm also slowly going through the videos on David Soul's website and watching them in no particular order. I think the first one I saw was an episode of Canon in which Soul played a major role. The show seemed so believable to me when I was young. Now it does not, and I marvel at how naive I was as a teenager.
I watched Jerry Springer The Opera on Soul's website the other afternoon. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. I'm not even sure whether I will ever want to rewatch all of it again. After the movie ended I went off to google and read a bunch of reviews. I think everyone agrees Soul did a fabulous job as Springer, but much of it made me uncomfortable. I didn't enjoy the heckling audience's language nor Springer's treatment of his staff. My favorite part of the real show was when Jerry would wrap up the episode with his final thoughts and the closing line "till next time take care of yourself and each other." Not that I saw that many complete episodes, as a general rule I'd try to catch the final ten or fifteen minutes and try to understand how my relatives would tell me they loved watching and found it hilarious. I didn't (and still don't) like the mean-spirited barbs thrown at the guests and wished everyone would be kind to one another.
I also started watching the old episodes of Unsub (starring David Soul of course). I'd forgotten how creepy the show was and how much of it parallels Criminal Minds. I think it was a show ahead of its time.

Date: 2024-07-31 06:53 pm (UTC)I wasn't a huge fan of Starsky and Hutch. I liked David Soul more on the Here Come the Brides. Man, that's going way back. That's the year before I graduated from high school, and we don't want to discuss how many years ago that was!
