On Monday I went to get my blood drawn for tomorrow's doctor appointment. On Tuesday we went for our annual eye exams. My prescription hasn't changed much but I expect I will get new glasses anyway as I am tired of having my distance glasses fall off when I look down. They're on a beaded chain so they don't fall to the ground but it is still annoying. Anyway, those were the only times I left the house this week.
I think we've had a lot of rain lately. It was raining when we arrived at the eye doctor and still raining in the afternoon. I would like to go out into the yard and do some gardening, but I'm working online and listening for phone calls so I can't be out there. Not to mention I shouldn't be outside without him to keep an eye on me. I don't know what we will do about yard work this year as we're both working until dark and then it's too late to do any. Weekends are a possibility but Jebra has a number of conventions on his schedule and I know he's going to want to go up north to see his parents and brothers.
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' Cat is terrible. My impulse control was shot after my frustrations with Skype last week which is how I came to buy it. I regret having done so and if I hadn't spend actual money buying the books (there are two) I wouldn't torment myself by reading them. Every paragraph or two I have to stop reading and complain to myself about how out-of-character Sherlock, Watson, and Mrs. Hudson are. Mary, Watson's wife is also out of character from what little we see of her in the original stories, but at least she is plucky and has a brain. In these books, Sherlock isn't stupid but he's not his usual brilliant self. Frankly, the best brain in the bunch seems to be that of his cat.
Meanwhile, my internet connection continues to bedevil me. My laptop won't maintain a steady connection and yesterday my laptop crashed so hard it couldn't reboot. Jebra had to do some of his magic to get it to work again.

Date: 2024-06-26 05:38 pm (UTC)I have been doing really cheapie Kindle things of late, because I'm trying to save to have the wheel bearings replaced on the Subaru. I figure this is one small bit saved, and I'm also setting aside some larger amounts for that. UGH.
But the silly Kindle things I'm reading have been fun. If I don't pay much, I'm fine with the thing not being perfect. So I've been reading Steven Higgs' THE BLUE MOON PARANORMAL INVESTIGATION AGENCY. (Or something to that effect.) It's entertaining and I got a set of the books for like $3.99 (10 books), so it's been worth the money.
