This show needs the world's biggest trigger warning. I thought it would be difficult to watch but I had no idea watching it would make me want to vomit.

I love horror, but I stay away from the splatter horror, both books and movies. Although I don't watch many movies these days. It's a personal preference. I usually take one look at the book cover, those of my friends on GoodReads who loved it, and nope right out. I know who the splatter-hounds are. 😆

This was horror of a different sort. I don't watch scary movies or splatter type stuff. This is a 4 hour documentary about abuse and cover-ups, and corruption in the Independent Fundamental Baptist (IFB) church.

Oh! I did a search for it and the first entry to come up was this! That's quite a bit different from this! 😆

I was a surprised that you were powering through it, as I didn't peg you were someone who normally watches horror. I don't really watch horror movies containing splatter/gore or jump scares. Splatter movies are gore for the sake of gore. They're silly.

I like documentaries about religion and cults. That one looks interesting.

They sure are different!

The documentary is interesting. I minored in Religion so religious stuff is something I think about and I sorta keep an eye out for what the Fundamentalists are doing. I'm still trying to figure out why cults form and why they so often end up with sexual abuse of children. Does having power over people corrupt? I think so.

I majored in lit, so I took a few religion and mythology courses. Like you, I've had an interest in religions most of my life. I thought that looking at the history and the evolution of religious faith would help me figure it out. Over the years I mostly I thought about community, identity, and safety. The person who has power over those three things also has the means to intimidate, infect, and corrupt. I don't think it's confined to religions.

Have you drawn any conclusions in general?

Just the title makes me want to run.

Out of curiosity, did the title register as prey as in hunting, or prey as in pray? I knew what it was going in, so I knew it was a pun on pray and about abuse in a religious setting.

I saw it as prey. I was once reading a series Prey by John Sanford. It got too gory for me so I stopped.
