The weekend was busy with us cutting down the tree that was rubbing up against the house before Jebra rushed off to see his friend Tina perform at Detroit's last remaining jazz club. I didn't go as I'm not fully vaccinated yet plus when he played the group's most recent album for me the music made me melancholy. I spent my evening catching up on a tiny fraction of my recorded shows, getting ready for Sunday, finishing up a couple of loads of laundry, and going to bed at a reasonable hour to read a little. I was on Season of Snows and Sins, the 10th book in the series but I have since finished and moved on to The Curious Affair of the Third Dog. One thing that amazes me about the series is how very different each book is even though two of the characters (Henry Tibbett and his wife Emmy) appear in each one. I'm reading the books through Hoopla and I'm enjoying the ability to look up unfamiliar words without having to exit the app.

On Sunday I ran my usual Stitch & Bitch group but we had to quit an hour early so that I could go with Jebra to the Birmingham Concert Band concert. Actually, I don't know if the group was forced out of the google meeting when I hit the hangup button. This was the first time I've ever left the group first. I told them I was going, that I didn't know what would happen, and if the meeting didn't stop they were welcome to stay. I'll have to ask about that this Sunday.

The concert was good and I liked most of the music. Not as much as I liked the image used to advertise the concert, but it was a close thing. After the concert we went grocery shopping and then returned to the house. We ate a very late lunch, Jebra went out for a walk while I caught up more on my recordings and decided it was time to stop recording Judge Judy. Not that I don't enjoy them but they were accumulating faster than I have time to watch and I've already seen the vast majority of episodes.

Monday night was band practice for Jebra and more tv for me, with a concerted effort to get to bed early as we had to be up at the ungodly hour of 6:30 am in order to get to my final post-operative check-up on time. Another x-ray was taken, I was declared to be something like 80% healed, and then sent on my way with clearances to get back on my exercise bike (yay!), get my 4th COVID booster and a flu shot, and prescription for antibiotics since, as I predicted, the abscess has returned. I also verified that the surgeon absolutely does not want me to have oral surgery until I reach the three month mark, so I don't get that taken care of until January 3rd. I also have a script for physical therapy but being me I haven't done more with it than put it top of my desk as work. Maybe tomorrow I will call and find out what's what with Team Rehab.

Last night the Black Sheep met at The Knit Stop for social knitting. I fell in love with a new-to-the-store yarn but have, so far, talked myself out of buying a skein. As you can see, I'm still thinking about it. In addition to seeing what new yarns came in, hearing about what knitting related events are coming up, I spent my time working on Clue 2 of the Guild's Knit-a-long and getting help with the stitch I couldn't figure out even with written instructions and a photo. Not even googling helped. I was also reminded why I often have to make a project twice to get it to turn out correctly. I've already frogged this thing once and know I've messed up the stitch count at least twice. Oddly, my count is currently correct because on the last round I somehow gained an extra pair of stitches. Who knows how the cowl will look when I'm done. Hopefully my errors won't be too obvious. If they are, well, maybe I'll just live with them. It is a pretty yarn after all.

I almost forgot to add mom news (if it weren't for adding tags I would have). We finally spoke after close to two weeks and she was in a fabulous mood. She's moving rooms again, this time to somewhere she'll be closer to the dining room and will have a window that faces outside of the complex which she is thrilled about. She's also moving closer to her brother's room and there's a suggestion that his wife will move into the room she has now. Why they aren't housed together I don't know, my mom wonders if has to do with insurance rules. Anyway, adding to her happiness is that her other daughter, my sister KC, has been declared 100% cancer free.

I'm very pleased to hear about the progress since your knee surgery. I think that physical therapy will help you even more. I have always found it extremely helpful.

I am sorry that the abscess has to wait until January 3rd and I send you good vibes that it's not too painful between now and then.

I'm glad your mother like her room with a window. I don't know about how things work with couples and assisted living. But if you have to have separate rooms, I ain't going.
