My actual week is described on today's page. The rest I have so say is a lot of random.

The only affordable cat food we have found that Fiona will consent to eat is no longer on the market. We're going to have to go to Petsmart and examine what alternatives they sell. Worse, I have to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of buying several cans of one type and hoping for the best, or buy a variety of different foods and hope I don't get stuck with a bunch of opened cans she won't touch. The no longer available food is the Turkey and Giblets canned food from Trader Joe's. It wasn't clear to me whether they are no longer selling canned cat food or if they are discontinuing the entire pet section. Either way, do not like.

I caught Dr. Phil giving misinformation twice a few days. It was the episode about morbid obesity and the evils of sugar. One of them was about the amount of sugar Americans ate at various points in history (his numbers were off by a fair amount) and he claimed that there are now 250 names for sugar on ingredient labels. I looked that up and numerous sources (according to Google) say the number of names is 61. I liked the self-proclaimed unapologetic fat woman a great deal as she was well-spoken, energetic, personable. She's also young and I worry that carrying around that much weight over time is going to wreck her joints they way it did mine. I felt really bad for another of the guests who is pretty much bedridden due to knee and hip and back problems caused by size. She said she needs weight-reduction surgery but can't get it as she exceeds the weight limit of the operating table. She also weighs too much for MRIs and the like. Another guest was some doctor who wrote a book concerning sugar consumption. I liked him too and was disappointed he didn't get to say more. I was amused when Dr. Phil lobbed him a question about sugar and genetics, obviously expecting him to agree that genetic makeup is a huge problem only to have him respond that changes in pollution and chemical exposures are just as, if not more of a problem.

Lastly, our trip St. Vinnie's was a success. I still haven't nabbed any of the movies I want to find for cheap but I did grab a copy of Zootopia. I've wants to see that for ages and now I can assuming I can find the time. I have no idea when that will be as I'm always behind on things on the DVR. I'm thinking I may bring that movie along the next time we go to visit Mom. There's no mom news this week as she hasn't been available any of the times I've called. I expect she's out with her church and Red Hat friends. Or her sorority sisters.

At least dogs will eat what you put in front of them even if they don't like it if they get hungry enough. I'm not sure I have the patience to be a cat person. They are cute, though.

I think cats are cute, especially big cats, but personality wise, they seem very ungrateful. My college roommate's cat used to bite me or her if he didn't feel like he was getting enough attention. He tore up my back one time when he got startled. Gee, Ace. Bad cat. He was crazy. He tore open the bottom of my bed once and I found him in my box springs.

Could you work at a vet's office or a shelter if you want to work with animals?

You should be able to return any unopened cans of food to the store, or donate them to a shelter, so at least they're not filling shelves in the house.
