I made *such* a mess of the original skein, particularly after washing it a second time and not using my swift when I wanted to re-skein it. I thought if I laid it out on a desk and balled carefully it wouldn't tangle. Was I ever wrong.
Anyway, part of the reason it took so long is that there is so much of it -- 460 yards according to my notes. All I can tell you for sure is that even winding it onto a Niddy Noddy took quite a while. This was also the first time I've ever used a Niddy Noddy so it may have taken a few minutes extra to get the hang of the thing. I love my Niddy Noddy, in part because it is such an ancient tool and in part because it has such a funny name. (Visit https://youtu.be/Hf_KplnyAAE if you want to see one in action.)
