The vast majority of furries are wonderful people, at least in my opinion. I lost track of the number of times someone came up to me as I was working and thanked me for volunteering. One even came bearing pizza.

The most fun I had on shift was when a Meerkat came to help me badge (prevent the non-badged from entering my part of the hotel). S/he was a non-talking Furry, getting his points across with a combination of mime and body language. He (she?) was also huge, probably in excess of 6' in costume and did a great job of blocking the hallway when he didn't want someone to pass. I hope I see him or her again next year, and that by then I'll be brave enough to ask for a hug. Over the weekend I didn't even ask for hugs from the Furries with "free hugs" tags hanging from their lanyards.

I can't find the program booklet at the moment, but I read through it after the con and really enjoyed the short bio written by one of the guests of honor. He wrote that his left changed when he first saw Roger Rabbit and realized *that* was the world he wanted to live in. "My" Meerkat would have certainly fit in -- he was fun and funny and bouncy.
