I am so sorry for your loss of Hector! It's so hard to lose a beloved animal.

It sure is. And Hector was a great cat.

Yeah, we came home from Thanksgiving to find him dead. Which was exactly what I was worried about and why I didn't want to go down to Indiana. On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving I realized he really wasn't feeling well, but with everything going on there wasn't time to take him to the vet. Hell, there hasn't been time to take me for an MRI. I've already postponed it twice -- new appointment is for, um, sometime the first week of January I think. I haven't said anywhere online, but last summer I noticed I couldn't flex the toes on my left foot. Then I started having trouble walking -- every now and again my left foot would do something unexpected -- move in a direction I didn't intend, or do it's best to trip me while walking. First doctor send me to specialist in "physical medicine." Second doctor said the problem is a nerve in my left knee. He may be right, but my boss encouraged me to see the doctor that fixed his son's back problem and whatever ailed his sister. Turns out that doctor is the founder of the practice where the second doctor works. He think the problem is actually in my back. He ordered an xray of my spine and when the film was developed we looked at it together. He looked at it, looked at me, looked back at the film and said "Your back looks like shit." I had to agree -- even I could see things weren't right. You know those cushion things between each vertebrae? I don't have any. And the bones themselves look like they've been dunked repeatedly in acid. The MRI is to figure out what's actually going on with the nerves. I'm also supposed to be getting physical therapy (no time for that either, so far) and maybe a foot brace. Have the script; not sure I want to spend $400 on a temporary brace. Although if I fall and break something this winter, the $400 would have been money well spent....

Anyway we lost Hector and now Hamish is very needy when we're home. Not that he prevents us from working but he'd clearly prefer we sat with him than did anything else. We hope to move home this weekend. There are things I like about living at Gini's house better than my own, but being away from my cats and my stuff hasn't been among them.

While I'm here, your Christmas present is finally in the mail. The Post Office predicts it will arrive on Monday. Two packages, tracking numbers 9114 9999 4431 3873 0755 16 and VG492705319US.

My goodness! Are you in constant pain? That sounds horrible.

Awww! I'm sure he'll be much happier when you're back home.

I'll be on the lookout. I'll be home Monday.

One package actually arrived today. They left a slip for the other(despite J being home)... do I have to sign for it?
