No kidding. The FEMA website says not to wait for the inspection to begin cleaning, but the inspector sure wanted to find visible proof of the height of the flood. I was getting worried as although I have one photo showing water in the basement I took it before the water reached full height. I was scared silly at the time and worried the house would explode (electrical outlets flooding plus gas water heater also flooding and maybe releasing gas and no way to reach the fuse box without stepping into at least a foot of water when I discovered we were flooding) that I spent time outside in the rain rather than inside the house.

Yeah, obviously FEMA doesn't care about how your insurance company will view things.

I'm SO very glad it worked out for you, and also very glad that you didn't take risks to get photos when it was happening!
