Not our house

During a typical week I see this house no less than ten times. It is on the route to work as well as on the way to many of the restaurants where we buy lunch. I don't know the people who lived there but going by the piles of boxes on their porch I had a hunch they were hoarders. I was worried that whoever lived there had been trapped inside, but Google revealed a pair of newspaper articles and I read that the couple who lived there were able to escape.

Yeah. The newspaper article said the fire was so difficult to extinguish that they had to bring in an excavator. And that Auburn road was completely shut down for four hours.

It's in Rochester Hills, on Auburn Road. It always attracted my eye because it looked like a large old farmhouse and sat on bigger lot than is typical for the area. Well, that and boxes of things on their porch that always made me think they were on the verge of having a yard sale.

Me too. I'm hoping they're coping okay with the loss of their home. They're in either their 60s or 70s (the newspaper articles disagreed on this point) and I know they'd lived there for a long long time as one of the people who left comments was their adult son who said he'd grown up in that house. I also hope they had their home insured. None of the articles addressed this point, nor had the cause of the fire been identified at that time. I don't know if that has now changed.
