The state of me

My previous two weekends were lost to sleep. Today was the new typical Saturday; I slept for 14 hours and damn near fell asleep out here on the couch after breakfast. Put my elbow on the arm rest, rested my jaw on my fist, and that was very nearly all she wrote.

Not that there is anything necessarily wrong with me other than my usual problems with sleeping soundly while my body is doing its damnedest to respond to allergens.

So far this year I've been to the eye doctor -- came away with a much stronger prescription and am now wearing glasses that let me see at a distance. I've also been checked for cancers of the reproductive system (none found), and had my brain MRI'd (with contrast). Those results won't be in until midweek although I'm unlikely to know the results until August since that's when my follow-up with the neurologist is scheduled. I made the appointment because my wonky memory has been well, wonky, and I was starting to obsess about it. That and I keep reading articles that pair sleep apnea with a propensity for strokes and articles that indicate minor stroke damage makes future fatal strokes far more likely. So I'm hoping the tests (I have two more scheduled for this week) will reveal nothing.

There are worse things in the world than being labeled a hypochondriac.

I think you're being quite sensible, which is *not* being a hypochondriac. :-) Best of luck with all the tests!

I've mailed off the Pros DVDs to you, media mail.

It's always best to get things checked out - losing whole days to sleep is not a good thing - did you get your bloods checked for anaemia/thyroid issues?

I hope you get (good)) answers soon . x

I had some bloodwork done earlier and the neurologist ordered more (not that I have clue what specific tests he ordered). As for thyroid, until you mentioned it I'd completely forgotten I'd taken a series of screening exams at my doctor's office. Thyroid was one of the things checked (as were carotid artery, ultrasound screening for abdominal aortic aneurysm, heart screening, and LV muscle function). Everything came back normal.

Better to get it checked and have that reassurance than not get it checked and worry about it all the dang time (which is what I do, lol). *hugs*

Sending you +positive+ ~vibes~ that all your tests will be stress-free! ♥

Take care, eh?

Better safe than sorry! Thinking good thoughts for you.

If your memory is "wonky" enough to worry you, it's wonky enough to be checked out. I've started losing people's names... I'm blaming perimenopause, though, because losing words and names was a symptom of pregnancy (that is, when my hormones were out of whack)... (and because I spent my life with my grandmother and now my mother talking about whathisname and whoziewhatzit)

I'm sending good thoughts that it's nothing major, easily fixed, and that all will be well.

I have to say I agree with everyone else in sending you good thoughts, best wishes, etc., and that the docs are probably doing the right tests for you. Hang in there. xoxo

You're not a hypcondriac, just a bit run down, maybe? or like me, gravity attacks you more than other people ;)

Hope all the tests are negative. x

Waaa! LJ just ate my reply!

As for not being a Hypochondriac, well, my old boyfriend Bill once said my tombstone would read "See! I *told* you I was sick!" (LOL) I do like your theory about gravity though and I'm considering adopting it.

As for the test results, they won't be in for another two weeks. And my follow-up appointment with the Neurologist isn't until the second week of August. So I figure I'll just muddle along like ever and try not to obsess.
