And, for the record, the number of times we had to shovel last winter was a big fat zero.

The abnormally warm winter was my fault. I prepaid a snow removal service. They actually came to my house twice, which means we had more than 2" of snow twice last winter.

I put de-icer on the sidewalk exactly once, and it turned out to have been unnecessary.

You and me both. I talked my boss into signing a seasonal contract with the snow plowing firm we used the previous winter. I researched weather forecasts and discovered this was supposed to be a winter with more snow than average, which is why I didn't go for per-push. Now, of course, I wish I had. I think the lot at the office was plowed five or six times, two of which I felt were silly as the forecast for the next day were well above 32 degrees and it was just going to melt.

Our snow guy came a total of 4 times, I think. That's about $55 per plowing effort. Sigh.
