eBay for the win

I saw this pin a while back and, even though I rarely wear pins, I really *really* wanted it. One like it came up again on eBay and jebra bought it for me. I think he was confused as to why I wanted it (he knows how I am about jewelry; I own far more than I actually wear) but to me, it's perfect. It's smaller than the matryoshka I regret not buying and it's about the same thing, the Russian fairy tale about the Giant Turnip. Which is near and dear to my heart, so much so that it features in the story Etched in Memory.

That's so lovely! I had a matryoshka doll my grandparents brought back from Russia when it was still the USSR. Their guide was probably a KGB operative because we became penpals (I was about 10) and she wrote from Krasnodar, which I think is the KGB headquarters. She sent me a beautiful Cyrillic alphabet chart and some postcards depicting the story of Ruslan and Ludmilla. The Christmas cards she sent were gorgeous but over the years it's all been lost :o( I can still read the Cyrillic alphabet though and I still remember a little Russian.
