Not sure how I feel about this

I read this article on backyard fights in the Washington Post, and don't know quite what to think. I'm particularly curious about what wpadmirer thinks about it. I'm pretty much against violence but the rules here sound fairly reasonable and if it reduces gun violence and other forms of mayhem, well, that's a good thing, right?
