[insanejournal.com profile] mbumby showed me the earring holders she made many years ago. I thought the folks on Craftgrrls would enjoy seeing it. If you're interested, click here.

This has been one of the busiest weekends I've had in quite a while. After work on Friday, [livejournal.com profile] jebra and I went to hear the Rhythm Society Swing Orchestra perform. They put on a really good show -- which wasn't much of a surprise considering how often they've been nominated for Detroit Music Awards.

Saturday we got up reasonably early and, having some spare time before we needed to head to Ypsilanti, went to our friend Marshall's house to help him with his current home renovation project.

We gave ourselves an hour to get to Ypsilanti and to figure out parking. As it happened, we didn't have any problem finding a parking spot near Riverside Park. We also had more time than we anticipated, as the Dunuya Drum and Dance performance had been rescheduled and now had a starting time an hour later than we had been informed. This wasn't too much of a hardship, however, as the musicians who had the stage before Dunuya Drum and Dance were very good. The event, by the way, was the 10th Annual Michigan Brewer's Guild Summer Beer Festival, but we weren't there to drink beer. We were there to watch Carolyn Koebel perform.

We exited the park after Caroloyn left the stage, then met up with [livejournal.com profile] mbumby to have dinner. After dinner we came home to catch up on LJ and to download the photos I'd taken at the Beer Festival.

Today's plan was for [livejournal.com profile] jebra, with [livejournal.com profile] mbumby's help, to assembly my recumbent bicycle. While they worked on my bike, I removed dead canes from the black-raspberry patch, emptied one of my compost bins and topped the black-raspberry patch with finished compost. I worked in the yard for a good six hours before coming inside and getting cleaned up. My new bike was ready to take for a ride when I came back outside, and the three of us went for a short ride around the neighborhood. Then we piled into our car and drove to Outback for dinner.

Now I'm finishing up the laundry and wondering just how sore I'm going to be tomorrow morning.
