First the mom news: She's moved into a different room at the place she lives (as far as I know, we still haven't come up with a name or adequate description of it). She was somewhat flustered when we spoke as half of the stuff she wants is still in boxes and she can't find everything. Plus it was storming like crazy and that was preventing more of of her things from being delivered. And she was expecting a guest and she wanted to look good for the visit. Overall though, she was in high spirits as on Sunday she went to the Davis/Jones Family Reunion and had a blast. I skipped out this year as I'm not supposed to sit in a car for that long and I'm trying to avoid indoor crowds with unmasked people. I can't get the newest shot again COVID until I am more healed.
The highlight of the week for me was attending LadyInfidel's birthday party and meeting ghengiskahn in person. I've been reading his comments on LadyInfidel's posts for ages but that was our first in=person interaction. Just now it occurred to me I could subscribe to his LJ so I just did. The party was fun and I enjoyed seeing everyone and watching Jebra cuddle Spot. He is such a good kitty except when he escapes his harness and makes a break for the trees. Good grief can LadyInfidel run fast. I had barely thought of getting up from my seat when she was already half way across the yard in pursuit of the furry little beast.
I am recovering from surgery well, which presents its own challenges in that I start moving in ways that are still forbidden (because without pain to remind me, I forget I'm still healing and on restrictions). I am learning new things too, like just how swollen my left leg and foot can become if I neglect to ice and elevate, and what a hematoma looks and feels like.
Sunday's online Stitch & Bitch went extremely well and we even had a new person join us. I worked on a baby hat and finished that up last night. Next up is a baby hat for the boss's kid's baby. This was going to be the second try (the first attempt was *way* too big around and far to shallow), but today I will starting my third attempt as the second was giving me fits trying to insert my needle to pick up stitches. I don't know if that's because of the cast on I used or because I'm recycling the yarn from attempt #1.
I was about to say that's all the news when I remembered that I heard from the city yesterday and he is closing out our case. We have water moving in the pond (Jebra put the submersible pump in to circulate the water and we added a couple of solar-powered fountains late last week). He'll be back in the spring to check up on us and we still have things to fix, like the pile of wood the power line folks left piled in the back corner and the ever-growing weeds, but we no longer need to stress about it. We also need to find out what the heck is going on with the power in the garage. Some of the electrical outlets work and others do not and, worse, one of the non-functioning ones is the one on the back of the garage where the pump is supposed to plug in. Right now it's plugged into an outlet inside the garage and running under the the door and then around the side of the garage to the back. Not ideal. I would also like to do something pretty with the island in the front yard where the tree used to be. Oh, and cut down that Mulberry next to the house before it grows much larger.
