We still have a ton of stuff at work and we haven't figured out what we're going to do. I have managed to sign up for unemployment but heaven help me how do I answer the "are you available for work" thing when I don't have a car and am not able to walk to a bus stop? I need a job where I sit at a desk and it needs to be fairly close to the house.

Now that I've thoroughly frustrated myself, I can't think of anything I wanted to say about the week other than we had snow last night and there was a light dusting on the grass when we left the house this morning.

What happened to your job and your car? I am so sorry I somehow didn't catch this. I don't know how I missed this. I know I'm in my own head trying to get the house ready to sell, but I didn't think I was this oblivious.

I happened the Thursday before I posted Week 42. So, three weeks ago today. The company has run out of money, revenue is not outpacing expenses, and the boss has decided to close down and sell the building.

OMG. That's terrible. How long can you get social security?

I could start collecting now but I don't know if that is wise. According to the social security website I'd be eligible for $1451/month if I wait until November 10th. If I could find a job that pays as much as I made at Simplix and kept that job until I was 70, my social security payment would increase to $2,297/month. That's a pretty big difference.

On the other hand, I have no idea how long I will live and I don't want to work until the moment I drop dead. It would be nice to have some time to relax, take it easy, and do a boatload of knitting.

I think the government would like us to all wait until we drop so they don't have to give us our money back. I ha e a friend who worked til 70 and if she didn't get out of her job, which her employer wanted her to keep, she had to pay social security back.
