For me, the biggest event of the week was seeing my mom for the first time this year. I was so excited about the trip to see her that I had trouble falling asleep for two nights before we left for Lowell. Mom was looking great even though I could tell she's in a lot of pain. I noticed she's rubbing one of her legs the same way I was rubbing mine before surgery. She gets to meet with a surgeon next Tuesday and hopefully she'll be cleared and get her hip fixed. We hung out with her until dinner, also seeing her sister-in-law Georgene and Georgene's daughter and her son-in-law when they popped into the room to say hi. I did not see my uncle (Gerald) as it did not occur to me to ask to walk down to his room until after we were home. At dinner time my mom decided she didn't want to eat at Maple Ridge and we ordered carryout from Culver's. Jebra would have gone to fetch it but instead my brother Roberts went and came back with his wife and food for all of us. It was a great seeing everyone and well worth getting home late that night.
Sunday was an abbreviated Stitch & Bitch meeting as Jebra was playing with the BCB Concert that afternoon. The concert was very good and I brought my knitting with me. Afterwards we stopped at Costco to do a tiny bit of shopping and pick up a Shepherd's Pie for dinner.
I'm still plugging away with the second story in Nancy J. Cohen's The Bad Hair Day Mysteries Box Set, Volume One. There are six stories in the collection but I am going to stop after the second story. I want to know who committed the murder and why, but I am not enjoying the book. I realized I do not care about the characters and can't relate to them. The second story also fails in that attempts on the main characters's life are extremely unrealistic.
Today we were sent home from work early as a big storm is heading our way and with the possible exception of Jebra, everyone is nervous. Also my work computer is acting squirrelly. So instead I'm sitting on my corner of the couch, typing this and watching an episode of Catfish from the early weeks of COVID.
