Big sigh
I don't really feel like posting today, which is really annoying as the wedding on today's page was glorious. So much love, so much family unity (and uniting of families), great music, great food, and amazingly beautiful in terms of decor and what people were wearing. I was dressed all in black and must have been super stealthy, as I went through the photos on facebook and I appear in only two of them. And when Jebra looked for me, he missed me both times. I almost missed me and I knew where I'd been sitting. Jebra took a few photos of just me, so if you're curious let me know and maybe I'll post one later.
Friday night was the rehearsal outdoors Goldner Walsh's Enchanted Glade and that went well. Following the rehearsal all of us were directed to Trini & Carmen's Mexican Restaurant for dinner. I enjoyed my dinner and I enjoyed meeting friends & family of the grooms I had not met before.
The enchantment on the glade must have worn off by the following afternoon as it started raining soon after we arrived for the wedding. The wedding itself was moved inside where it was very pretty as well as warm and dry. Also, rain sounds amazing on a greenhouse roof and I loved that as well.
Sunday I met online with the usual Stitch & Bitch folks and finished Cat Bed #866. The number isn't significant, what is significant is that I'm counting this one by itself as it is going to Marcon with Jebra to be included in the auction. He leaves for Marcon tomorrow evening so there wasn't much time to complete the thing, not to mention launder it and take a photo for my records.
Monday night was band practice for Jebra and laundry for me.
Tuesday I met with K2Tog Minneapolis Online and had a good time talking and knitting. I finished the chemo cap I've been working on and attempted to start another. I've got about 80 stitches cast on but the yarn is weirdly irregular and I might cut off the bad part and start over. I haven't decided yet.
My mom called me before the zoom call and I discovered why she hasn't been answering her phone. She's sick again and says she's been doing little other than coughing, sleeping, and wishing she could get her voice back. We didn't talk long as it was obvious talking was a struggle for her.
The rest of the evening went well, right up until it was time for bed and Jebra received a phone call from one of our friends asking if he knew what was going on. Not only didn't we know, didn't know what he was talking about. A bit of poking around on the internet and facebook revealed that one of our friends died unexpectedly. "Unexpectedly after a short illness" is all we've heard so far. Hopefully we learn more later. I'm doubly troubled because I was just thinking about him over the weekend. He was one hell of a good artist and a bouncy happy person, not to mention a great lecturer. I loved the lectures and demonstrations he'd put together at SF conventions. I miss him as much as I miss Jean and I'm hoping there's some sort of afterlife where they can hang out together. He'd surprise us by showing up for dinner at Jean's house on rare occasions and was always a bringer of joy.
