The weekend was pretty good as we got together with a few friends Saturday afternoon for one of the hosting couple's backyard parties. It was cold but we had a good time anyway. And I got some knitting done.
Sunday's Zoom was cancelled (no idea why) so the only thing I had to worry about was getting to and from the Birmingham Concert Band's concert. Saturday's cold snap continued and had snow flurries added to it. We took all surface streets and didn't have much difficulty except at major intersections. We didn't spin out but there was a time or two I thought we might. Monday morning I learned there had been 150 accidents on I-696 caused by the white-out conditions and the icy roads.
Anyway, the concert was really good, and included things like the themes to Star Trek, The A Team, Mission Impossible and video games like Civilization, Halo, and a game I'd never heard of called Cuphead. There was a video of that game and it looked like a cartoon from the 1930s and '40s and sounded like one too. I just googled it and there's now a show with the characters on Netflix.
During the concert the conductor gave away copies of the band's CDs to those who could identify the themes to television shows. I missed two of the twelve themes but that was enough to win four CDs. My disks contained a variety of Christmas and Classical pieces. Not what I generally listen to but enjoyable anyways.
In mom news, we spoke several times. She's been doing the rounds with her doctors and may have finally found a solution to her eye problems. I can't describe (or name) the problem but apparently four weeks of eye drops and she'll be able to see properly again. She's also been to one of her regular doctors and the rest of her is holding up well. No new prescriptions or new diagnoses.
In car news, the van broke again. Fortunately (to the degree its possible to be fortunate), it developed the symptom while Jebra was driving it to the repair place for a check-up. Once again this was the shuddering problem. Jebra said something about a problem with the engine mount and the engine was misfiring. So in addition to new mounts we also have a new coil and six new spark plugs. If we can go a full year without needing another expensive repair I will be happy.
