Slash recs?

Without going into the details, I need to pick a few zines from http://www.asidozines.com/

Among my choices are two novellas taking place in Smallville -- but I don't know a damn thing about the fandom other that what's been penned by [profile] peach1250 and [profile] greenlady2. The two Smallville zines are Playthings (a Clark/Lex “Smallville” novel by VampyrAlex) and Race with Destiny (a Smallville "Clex" slash novella by VampyrAlex and Chris J. Ueberall with full-color cover by Suzan Lovett). Are they worth getting, or should I go for a random anthology? Informed opinions, anyone?

I'm familiar with the authors from some of their Mag 7 slash stories. Their writing is...okay, but not, imo, top tier. Kinda average. However, I don't know anything about their Smallville stories. Suzan Lovett's art is always gorgeous.

I don't collect art anymore, so I wouldn't buy zines unless the authors were the very best and I knew the stories would never show up online (or I was too anxious to wait).

Thanks for your input. I love SL's art, but since it's more the words I'm after, I've concluded the Dyads are a safer bet and have selected (more or less at random) three of them.
