First, [livejournal.com profile] maddiec24 Thank you! I opened your gift this morning and I love everything you sent. I also taste-tested both tins of sugared pecans. Yummmmmmmmm. Are the pecans from your trees this year or was the harvest too small?

Second, as soon as I stop typing and we load the car, we're off for our traditional late Christmas/New Year's Eve excursion to Indiana. We'd be on the road already if it weren't for an unexpected need to take Hamish to the vet this morning. I spotted a red lump on his foot a few nights ago and felt we ought to have it looked at before we left. No telling what it is yet -- the advice was to keep an eye on it for a few weeks to see if it's growing. If it is, come back soon. If not, we can put off surgery indefinitely.

Yours was my first card of the season. Thanks much, and I love the snowpeople and their snowpets. It's almost too cute for words although it is also leaving me with an incredible urge to get out my fimo and make something. This is not good as I still haven't finished the bed socks I'm making my mother-in-law for her combination birthday-Christmas gift. And unlike Christmas, her birthday is less than a week away!

I spent my actual birthday in Indianapolis, Indiana at very small SF-related convention. Worried I'd lose my the cards & gifts that arrived earlier in the week, I left them at the house and delayed opening them until our return. Which actually took another two days as [livejournal.com profile] jebra hit the ground running when we got back and I didn't want to open anything without him.

Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] maddiec24 for the wonderful rainbow heart ring, camera necklace, and the St. Patrick's Day socks which filled me with inordinate joy, and to [livejournal.com profile] bloggingchick for the amazing birthday picture-story. If you're a fan of SPN, Nick Lea, and/or Mitch Pileggi, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

p.s. I love the round one and the one with cables. That one is wonderful — I'd have never guessed it was your first time knitting cables.

First, [livejournal.com profile] trillingstar your extremely pretty card arrived but you neglected to include your return address! Please pm it over (or respond on lj/dw if you aren't as paranoid as I).

[livejournal.com profile] jennlk your card arrived before we left for Indiana but I was going nuts trying to get our cards out before year's end and didn't mention it at the time. Reading the letter was fun as it it's a different look at the family than what is on your and [livejournal.com profile] johnridley's lj.

Not that it is likely, but in the off chance you see this, [livejournal.com profile] josanpq, your card arrived as well and made me grin. I love the graphic on the front of the card. Such an interesting mix of color and grey scale.

As for silliness, [livejournal.com profile] maddiec24, I'm wearing the Santa socks today and I brought your photo in to work with me and just realized the shirt I have on is almost the same color as the one in the photo of you and J. That's making me grin as well.

THANK YOU!

I'm home and sitting on my corner of the couch, surrounded by your gifts. They were well traveled, having gone from your place to ours down to Indiana and then back to here. I also discovered why delivery took so long -- which is that it probably didn't. The post person put the box between our front and screen doors and Jebra didn't notice since he's normally looking for the mail well past dark. If he hadn't been up there during daylight hours, well, I suppose the box would still be there.

Anyway, I love everything you've sent -- the photo of you and J is wonderful, the card itself is very pretty, and the socks are adorable. The mini pedicure kit is both cute and very welcome as my poor heels are so rough it's not funny. But the penguin playing cards! Adorable!!

Thank you so much!

ETA: OMG, how'd I forget to thank you for the sugared pecans!? (Well, they're out in the kitchen but it isn't like that wasn't the first thing I thought of when the box appeared in our hotel room!)

Yesterday LJ sent me a notice that you'd sent me a virtual gift. I kept meaning to go look but kept forgetting. Until now, when I see it's virtual snowflakes. In the funny coincidence department, real snowflakes were falling when we left work yesterday. Other than snow on the top of a single car traveling south, all traces of snow were gone by the time I was on my way to work this morning. This is fine by me. I like a good snowfall the day before Christmas, on Christmas, and the following day, but other than that, the snow's welcome to stay away.

And on an unrelated note, does anyone know why thumbnails post correctly on DW but not on LJ?

Thanks!

Your card arrived today. I spent a good amount of time staring at the cover and thought the two men walking side by side toward the camera were John Sheppard and Rodney McKay. I've never known you to mention the SGA fandom, but I figured you knew I read it and would appreciate seeing them. I read the message you wrote inside the card (Thank you!), then flipped it over and read the info on the back. Imagine my surprise when I learned that I wasn't looking at an imaginary ocean-side area on Atlantis, but rather the Seawall at Stanley Park in British Columbia. The photography is as stunning as the seawall itself. I hope to visit there someday. And I still maintain the two gentlemen look like McKay and Sheppard. Thanks for providing so much delight with one little card.

I had the best birthday thanks to having great friends and family. I got loads of lovely cards, and birthday greetings on LJ, DW, facebook, and email.

Jebra got me this great Woot shirt.

My BFF maddiec24 gave me a lovely digital card and another one through the post office that made me cry (not to mention Lindt chocolates, a box of chocolate-covered strawberries (that I can't stop eating), a set of postcards, a knitting magazine, and an incredibly cute blank book). LJ users odogoddess and greenlady2 sent virtual gifts, and ursula4x even wrote birthday fic for me!

Pretty, pretty cards from my mom, in-laws, sister, and sister-in-law, and wonderful digital cards from seagray, biani, maiac, numenora, trillingstar, rhymephileand a sweet manip from nindevotee.

Maddie! Thank you! I opened your gift this morning and grinned like crazy over the penguin socks and then seconds later pried open one of the two tins of sugared pecans and began to feast. Yummmm! And THANK YOU!!!

To drkcherry, josan, and mbumby:

Thanks for the Christmas cards!

To everyone:

Do any of you spend much time naked or half-dressed at your place of work? I was thinking today, as I changed clothes here for the umpteenth time, You'd think I work on a porn set for the number of times I've stripped down at the office.

ETA:

Yesterday's thought was triggered when I changed from a t-shirt to a polo shirt before leaving work for a Christmas party, and we influenced by the fact that the previous hour found me sitting at my desk in my underwear and t-shirt. I had taken my jeans off in order to stitch a decorative patch over the hole that had developed next to one of the rear pockets. I should also point out that the only two people in the building at the time were myself & my spouse. And I'd asked him to warn me if he saw anyone pulling into our parking lot.

Did I ever thank you for the milk and cookies? If not, bad me. It would explain why the notice about it is still in my inbox though. I am making progress in clearing old email -- I went from 2800 messages last week to 2186 today. Wish me luck -- I have some that I haven't quite known how to answer (thus the procrastination) that have been hanging around for years.
