Kiss of the Spider Woman tonight at the Baldwin. I have no idea how I'm going to react to this production. [livejournal.com profile] jebra is concerned I'm going to end up depressed and up half the night. I'm worried too, but the musical won a boatload of awards and I'm wondering if I should see it on those grounds alone. Not to mention we've already spend the money.

In knitting news, I finished my 4th Jayne Hat of 2012 on the way to work this morning.

In Nia news, my main teacher has come down with the flu. Jean will be substituting tomorrow morning. I set the alarm to get up and go to class but if Kiss bums me out, I may blow off going.

In con-going news, we were at Epic ConFusion last weekend. I spent some time at Bill Roper's table in the hucksters room and came away with a handful of CDs. Leslie Fish's Lock and Load is pretty good but the songs tend to make me feel a bit depressed. Roper told us we should get Play It With Moxie and he was so right. It's my favorite of the new music. Second place is Bedlam Bards' On the Drift, music inspired by Firefly and Serenity. I'm less impressed with their new album with Marc Gunn, Firefly Drinking Songs.

On January 1st I saw that [personal profile] dglenn used one of my quotes. This morning I see one of my friends is on cheezburger.

Which reminds me, a video I'm in was posted to youtube -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuOfzprvvwY -- I'm the fat chick briefly interviewed at the 38 second mark.

Tomorrow we're going to The Ark for this group's performance.

(Relieved because making this card crashed my graphics program three times!)

First, [livejournal.com profile] trillingstar your extremely pretty card arrived but you neglected to include your return address! Please pm it over (or respond on lj/dw if you aren't as paranoid as I).

[livejournal.com profile] jennlk your card arrived before we left for Indiana but I was going nuts trying to get our cards out before year's end and didn't mention it at the time. Reading the letter was fun as it it's a different look at the family than what is on your and [livejournal.com profile] johnridley's lj.

Not that it is likely, but in the off chance you see this, [livejournal.com profile] josanpq, your card arrived as well and made me grin. I love the graphic on the front of the card. Such an interesting mix of color and grey scale.

As for silliness, [livejournal.com profile] maddiec24, I'm wearing the Santa socks today and I brought your photo in to work with me and just realized the shirt I have on is almost the same color as the one in the photo of you and J. That's making me grin as well.

THANK YOU!

I'm home and sitting on my corner of the couch, surrounded by your gifts. They were well traveled, having gone from your place to ours down to Indiana and then back to here. I also discovered why delivery took so long -- which is that it probably didn't. The post person put the box between our front and screen doors and Jebra didn't notice since he's normally looking for the mail well past dark. If he hadn't been up there during daylight hours, well, I suppose the box would still be there.

Anyway, I love everything you've sent -- the photo of you and J is wonderful, the card itself is very pretty, and the socks are adorable. The mini pedicure kit is both cute and very welcome as my poor heels are so rough it's not funny. But the penguin playing cards! Adorable!!

Thank you so much!

ETA: OMG, how'd I forget to thank you for the sugared pecans!? (Well, they're out in the kitchen but it isn't like that wasn't the first thing I thought of when the box appeared in our hotel room!)

Wishing the shiny new year treats all of you to the very best of everything.

As for new year's resolutions, mine are to call the dentist (I think I lost a filling a few weeks back) and to sleep more. I cannot even begin to explain how exhausted I feel. I'm back to looking like a raccoon, the circles under my eyes are so big and so dark.

Yay!

The Broker's Man arrived today!

I've spent the last three weeks trying to clean off my desk. I swear paper comes here to breed. Anyway. Among the piles of the stuff I sorted through today was a packing list for the CDs [livejournal.com profile] jebra purchased last month. He bought them from Linkyo (d/b/a supermediastore.com) and the description reads "JVC Taiyo Yuden 52X CD-R White Injet Printabl 100pk). I know these aren't the least expensive disks on the market but they are supposed to be superior in terms of longevity.

I believe that Google has updated the street view of your neighborhood. I seem to recall that the last time I looked I couldn't find a door anywhere on your building.

Is this really your house? )
